Outline of the Program
The Foundation provides support for academic activities conducted by Korean Studies centers and academic associations dedicated to research in Korean language and other Korea-related areas of study.

Details of Support
The Foundation covers personnel expenses and other costs directly related to organizing and conducting Korea-related events and activities. (The Foundation will not pay for indirect or overhead expenses.)

Application Procedure
Required Documents
- A completed application form (a standard application form is available for download)
- A copy of the university brochure (applicable only to the new applicant institutions); and
- Curriculum vitae of the project director and major participants
Application Submission
- All applications must be signed by the highest administrative official of the applicant institution.
- Applications must be submitted to the Korean Foundation by August 31 of the year preceding the project year.
- Applications may be mailed, faxed or sent by email. For applications sent by email, they can be followed up by mailing a separate hard-copy application, signed by the highest administrative official, to the Foundation.
Evaluation Criteria
- Contribution to the advancement of Korean Studies;
- Concreteness and feasibility of the project plan;
- Performances and accomplishments of the applicant institution in the field of Korean Studies; and
- The appropriateness of the budget plan
Important Reminders
- Notification of Changes to the Project: A grant recipient institution must notify the Foundation of any changes introduced to the project plan submitted at the time of application.
- Revision of the Project Plan: The Foundation, when it deems necessary, may request an applicant institution to revise its project plan or to supplement it with new elements.
- Disbursement of the Grant: Before grant funds are made available to the successful applicant, the Foundation and the recipient institution enter into a grant agreement whose details, including the details of the project and the budget, are determined through discussion between the two parties.
- The Start of the Project: All projects approved for a grant under this program must begin during the same academic year in which the grant begins. When the start of the project must be postponed or the project cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, the recipient institution must discuss the issue with the Foundation before taking dispositions to postpone or cancel the project.
- Submission of Report: Recipient institutions are required to submit the final project report (a standard report form is available for download) to the Foundation within one month from the time of completion of the project or the end of the fiscal year. The report must be accompanied by an accounting report drafted by the recipient institution’s accounting officer.
