The 2015 Autumn Edition of Koreana, a quarterly journal that provides in-depth information on Korea’s culture and arts, is now available. This edition highlights Tongyeong, a small but delightful port city on Korea’s southern coast, from a variety of angles, in regard to its unexpected charms, its local residents, its being the home of so many of Korea’s luminary cultural figures, its handicraft tradition, and its local foodie scene. Also worth noting is the addition of the Tales of Two Koreas column, a new feature to commemorate the past 70 years of Korea’s independence and the efforts to resolve the North-South division. You can take a glimpse at Daeseong-dong, or Freedom Village, which is located within the DMZ area. In addition, the Focus column describes the royal ancestral music and dance rituals of the Jongmyo Shrine, which are being performed in France later this year, on the occasion of the 2015-2016 Korea-France Bilateral Exchanges to celebrate 130 years of Korea-France diplomatic relations.
