An exhibition of Korean and French contemporary woodcuts is being hosted in Korea and France by the Gimpo Cultural Foundation of Korea, the School of Fine Arts (École des Beaux-Arts) in Versailles, France, and the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Paris. Affinités: Encounter of Gyeol is the first exchange exhibition spotlighting the woodcut artists of both countries.

Running from May 12 to 28 at the School of Fine Arts in Versailles, the exhibition will also run at the KCC in Paris from June 5 to 29, alongside similar shows at other galleries in Paris. In Korea, it is currently underway at the Art Center of the Gimpo Art Village until June 5.

The show presents a rare opportunity to see the works of Korean and French artists in the genre at one place, featuring woodcuts by 31 artists—17 from Korea and 14 from France—under the theme “City, Nature, Human.” Visitors can experience the diverse individual styles and cultural diversity represented by the artists. The exhibition also presents a new perspective on woodcuts through a three-dimensional composition of space utilizing flat surfaces and installations.

The exhibitions at the three venues in both Korea and France seek to expand bilateral cultural exchange and cooperation.
