On every weekend during the month of February, the ASEAN Culture House will host screenings at its fourth-floor auditorium of films that explore the culinary cultures of the ASEAN region and Korea. Offered alongside the special exhibition, “ASEAN Street Food: Hororok Chopchop Omulomul,” the program is comprised of 10 films that feature dishes from ASEAN, Korea, and the wider Asian region under four themes: “Hororok,” “Chopchop,” “Omulomul,” and “ASEAN-ROK Dinner Table”.

While “Hororok” features films about noodle dishes, “Chopchop” is made up of films in which people of different religious and cultural backgrounds build bonds with one another through food. “Omulomul” features films about the joy of eating dishes from ASEAN and Korea, and “ASEAN-ROK Dinner Table” offers a thematic overview of the similarities in culinary culture among ASEAN, Korea, and the wider Asian region.

The program includes a expert's talk-style event, titled “Food Culture Story in Film,” featuring Lee Wook-jung, the production director of Chicken Odyssey (2018), and Jeon Ju-yeon, the winner of the 2019 World Barista Championship. The talk is expected to help viewers better understand the screened films. Program details and further information about the films are available on the ACH’s website (www.ach.or.kr).
