The KF invited members of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee to visit Korea on October 24-28. The visiting UNESCO delega-tion included representatives from Lebanon, Peru, the Philippines, Qatar, Croatia, Germany, Jamaica, and Senegal. The delegation visited Andong and Yeongju, where they met with Gweon Young-sae, Mayor of Andong, and Jang Wook-hyeon, Mayor of Yeongju. They also toured Byeongsan Seowon, Dosan Seowon, and Sosu Seowon, Korea's most prominent Seowon (educational institutes for traditional Confucian values). The group also toured traditional and historical attractions, such as Hahoe Folk Village in Andong, and Changdeok-gung and Changgyeonggung palaces in Seoul. The visit allowed the UNESCO members to gain firsthand experience and knowledge regarding Korea’s Seowon and to familiarize themselves with various aspects of Korean culture.
