On October 9, the KF’s Korean language students gathered for a special outdoor activity in honor of Hangeul Day. Students spent the morning at the National Museum of Korea, where they went on a scavenger hunt for various cultural artifacts. They split into groups, sought out certain artifacts, and described them in Korean. Some groups also drew pictures, while others explained an artifact’s origins or even offered artistic impressions, demonstrating their Korean skills in a fun way. Students spent the afternoon learning talchum, a traditional masked dance, at the National Hangeul Museum. Maehwa, a student from Finland, said it was a "fun but difficult" experience. Maehwa currently studies nongak, a genre of traditional folk music, and is deeply interested in Korean culture. Thus, students spent a meaningful day learning about Korea's cultural artifacts and talchum dance. We hope it was a chance for students to develop their knowledge of the Korean language and passion for the Korean culture.
