Held at the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul on November 19, the Third Korea-China Public Diplomacy Forum allowed representatives of the two countries to share their public diplomacy initiatives, engage in cultural exchange, and thoroughly discuss the role of media outlets. As a KFGF, I was blessed with the privilege of being able to partake in such a meaningful international event.
Before the discussions were underway, I was somewhat worried that everything would be unfamiliar and difficult since I had never participated in this kind of a public diplomacy forum. However, I quickly realized that mutual understanding of one other’s culture, exchange of knowledge, and effective communication are not possible without global-minded citizens who possess a diverse range of perspectives. The event allowed the participants to redefine their attitudes toward the relationship between Korea and China, two nations that highly influence each other, and to reflect on the importance of earnest communication and exchange.
As neighbors in Northeast Asia, I hope that the common ground our two cultures share can help us to better understand each other, and I will continue working to strengthen the bonds between the Korean and Chinese peoples and support amicable relations for a more cooperative and productive future.
