2020 KF Public Diplomacy Project Teams’ Online Inauguration

To strengthen Korea’s public diplomacy potential and enhance the general public’s understanding about this type of diplomacy, the KF supports citizens’ “Public Diplomacy Projects” on an annual basis. These projects enable citizens to plan and carry out a range of activities to make an array of Korean attractions known to the outside world.

This year, project ideas were gathered through a public contest from February 14 to March 24, and the final list of 15 successful teams was announced on May 18. While nine teams will carry out their projects overseas, six will do so in Korea. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the government’s preventive measures such as social distancing, this year’s screening process took place remotely. Online video interviews replaced the usual face-to-face interviews, and even the inauguration ceremony was held online on June 27.

Compared to previous years, the newly selected teams face many restrictions and must take a number of considerations into account while putting their ideas into action. The KF wishes them the best of success and extends its deep appreciation to all who participated in the contest. We hope for everyone’s continued interest in the KF’s activities.
