KF to Host Australian Media Students
From July 1, ten Australian collegians majoring in journalism will visit Korea for a week at the KF’s invitation. The aspiring journalists will be accompanied by William Won Hong Seung, chairman of the Korean Australian Community Support Incorporation (KACS), and two other KACS board members.
While in Korea, the students will visit the JoongAng Ilbo and KBS World offices, and participate in a seminar at the Yulchon LLC law firm to enhance their understanding of Korean and Australian laws and taxation systems. They will also pay a courtesy call on the Australian Ambassador to Korea Catherine Raper for a talk on major bilateral issues involving Australia and Korea.
Other institutions on the itinerary include the National Assembly and the Korea Press Foundation, where the students will learn about Korea’s journalism promotion policies. At the Yonsei University Center for Australian Studies, they will be able to deepen their knowledge of Australia-Korean relations through an interview and a special lecture. The students’ visit to Korea is hoped to foster a greater understanding of Korean current affairs and media among this young cohort of aspiring Australian journalists. It also hopes to encourage a positive public opinion about Korea in the Oceanian country.
