Third Annual Meeting of the Global Public Diplomacy Network Assembly

[Review] Third Annual Meeting of the Global Public Diplomacy Network Assembly

Hosted by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the Global Public Diplomacy Network’s (GPDNet) annual Assembly Meeting was held on June 23–26 in Kraków, Poland. Launched in 2014 as a KF-led initiative that is now in its third year, the Assembly Meeting attracted the participation of prominent public diplomacy institutes from around the world, including Taiwan’s Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange, Poland’s Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the the Philippines’ National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Singapore International Foundation, and Turkey’s Yunus Emre Institute.
As the GPDNet’s interim President, the KF presented various case studies of public diplomacy efforts to the members. In particular, the participating members deliberated the approval of an administrative charter, election of a President, and selection of a host for the 2017 session, which resulted in the appointment of Seref Ates, of the Yunus Emre Institute, as President for a three-year term, and the naming of Istanbul as host of the next Assembly Meeting in May 2017.
