The Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum opened its secretariat in a ceremony at the KF Gallery in Suha-dong, Seoul on July 10, 2017. The decision to set up the secretariat was announced at the meeting of the 10th Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum on November 15, 2016, and the office was formally opened after seven months of preparation. Among the dignitaries present at the opening ceremony were First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Lim Sung-nam, Turkmenistan Ambassador to Korea Myrat Mammetalyyev, and Uzbekistan Ambassador to Korea Vitaliy Fen. The ceremony opened with a video introducing the secretariat, which was followed by congratulatory remarks by Vice Minister Lim, Ambassador Mammetalyyev, and KF President Lee Sihyung, as well as greetings from Kim Gwang-keun, Secretary-General of the secretariat. The secretariat is expected to offer a significant contribution to building mutually beneficial and future-oriented cooperation between Korea and the five Central Asian member states, capitalizing on their tremendous potential for growth in the fields of energy, transportation, and distribution.
