[Review] RAND Corporation Names First Korea Policy Chair in the Western United States

The RAND Corporation, a nonprofit think tank that produces globally recognized research in defense and security, has inaugurated the first Korea Policy Chair in the western United States with the KF’s support.
RAND’s Korea Policy Chair will be the third such position in the United States to be created through the KF’s support. It follows the KF-funded establishment of a Korea Chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in 2009 and another at the Brookings Institution in 2014.
During the inauguration ceremony, RAND President and CEO Michael Rich gave a welcoming speech followed by congratulatory remarks by KF President Sihyung Lee and Korean Consul-General in Los Angeles Kim Wan-joong.
Dr. Ji-young Lee, the inaugural RAND Korea Policy Chair, also spoke on her future research plans. Currently a professor at American University, Dr. Lee will officially join RAND in September. She will carry out research on Korea and related issues, and will hold workshops and conferences to contribute to the invigoration of studies related to the Korean Peninsula in the western United States.
