KF Public Diplomacy Academy Lecture Notes Available Free of Charge‘So What Is Public Diplomacy?’

In order to vigorously participate in the social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the KF is expanding its use of online platforms for public diplomacy activities. As part of these efforts, the KF is distributing a free PDF file of “So What Is Public Diplomacy?,” a compilation of lecture notes used in classroom teaching at its Public Diplomacy Academy.

The academy has been in operation since 2018 as an educational program that both strengthens the public diplomacy potential of Korean citizens and fosters professionals specializing in public diplomacy. It offers customized curricula to various groups of learners including ordinary citizens, undergraduate and graduate students, and hands-on workers in the field of international exchange.

“So What Is Public Diplomacy?” compiles the content of the lectures presented to the first class of the academy’s students. The book provides comprehensive knowledge on the subject, from basic information to actual implementation, introducing the concept and theory of public diplomacy, examples of public diplomacy activities in Korea and abroad, and explanations of public diplomacy in practice through the utilization of social networking services and mass media. The volume also covers interesting questions and answers exchanged in the classroom that show the dedication and passion of the academy’s students.
