KF Measures to Overcome the COVID-19 Pandemic

The KF is continuing to take measures to overcome the situation triggered by COVID-19, not only on behalf of Koreans but for all citizens of the world. Our “Stay Strong” online campaign aims to enhance worldwide solidarity to combat the virus and its effects.

We are also carrying out activities designed to share with other countries the measures Korea has taken against the pandemic. On March 23, we hosted a briefing on COVID-19 rapid test kits for officials at Central Asian embassies in Korea. And on April 17, the KF jointly held the online seminar “Crisis Management & Public Diplomacy During Coronavirus: Lessons from South Korea” with the University of Southern California Center on Public Diplomacy (CPD).

The KF is additionally taking an active role in social distancing efforts now underway around the globe. Business meetings and trips have been postponed, and orientations for public diplomacy projects for citizens have been replaced with distribution of manuals. The March 24 project evaluation meeting for the Korea-Japan 100 Citizens’ Future Dialogue was held via video conference, and online platforms are being effectively utilized for other events as well.

Now is the time to put top priority on safety in all KF activities. Accordingly, we’ve offered guidance on precautionary measures and emergency contact information to participants in our Global Challenger internship program and others who are abroad on KF programs, and we are monitoring their health and working conditions. Likewise, foreigners in Korea on KF programs, including our visiting fellows, are being provided with masks and hand sanitizer, as well as guidance on preventive measures.
