[Review]Crisis Management & Public Diplomacy during Coronavirus:Lessons from South Korea

On April 17 at 9 a.m. (KST), the KF and the University of Southern California Center on Public Diplomacy (CPD) jointly held an online seminar entitled “Crisis Management & Public Diplomacy during Coronavirus: Lessons from South Korea.”

Speeches were given by KF President Dr. Geun Lee and Dr. Young-mee Jee, former director-general of the Center for Infectious Disease Research of the National Institute of Health (NIH) Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC). Around 300 diplomats, academics, experts, students, and general citizens from 30 countries joined the seminar to present a variety of questions and comments. The event proved that health has become an important part of Korea’s public diplomacy.

To the KF, this was also a meaningful occasion to reach out to audiences overseas through its first online seminar since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The KF plans to continue diverse online activities for its public diplomacy efforts in the coming days. The content of the KF-CPD seminar will be made available to the public via the KF’s YouTube channel.
