2021 Korea-Central Asia Experts’ Webinar on Infectious Disease to Be Held

This summer, infectious disease experts from Korea and the five Central Asian countries will participate in a webinar held as a follow-up to the 13th Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum, jointly sponsored by the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum Secretariat and the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI). During the forum, held in Seoul on November 25, 2020, chief delegates from the Central Asian countries delivered keynote speeches in which they expressed keen interest in Korea’s countermeasures against COVID-19 and the country’s advanced medical system.

The webinar is designed to meet the needs and demands of the participating countries and facilitate cooperation in the field of infectious diseases. During the first session, participants will share research results from a study on Korea’s infectious disease management system and countermeasures against COVID-19 that was conducted last year. The second session will supplement the first by inviting prominent Korean specialists to address questions received in advance from experts in Central Asian countries. These will deal with such varied subjects as the characteristics of new variants of COVID-19, electronic infectious disease management systems, remote medical care technology and treatment, and the prevention of COVID-19 infections in children.

The online seminar aims to expand cooperation and invigorate exchange in the field of public health and broaden overall healthcare collaboration.
