[The World in Korea]Rest and Relaxation at Asan Mediterranean Village

Asan Mediterranean Village, located at 55-7, Tangjeongmyeonro 8-gil, Asan, is a themed village that aims to provide visitors with rest and relaxation. It was created by a group of 64 families who were forced to relocate in the wake of the construction of a Samsung Display company. Sharing similar thoughts about the relocation and maintenance of their community, the families decided to establish the themed village on the land offered for their resettlement.

The village is divided into three districts: Provence, Parthenon, and Santorini. The pretty buildings in the Provence district display Provençal architecture in harmony with pastoral scenery; elegant marble columns and level roofs can be found in the Parthenon district, reminding onlookers of the Greek temple of the same name; and the Santorini district shines with white buildings topped with blue domes.

The village gives off a comfortable, welcoming, European atmosphere, reflecting the founders’ wish to make it a place of rest and relaxation. The alleys that link the districts feel familiar, allowing visitors to feel as if they are walking around a friendly garden, not along a road. In addition to the Mediterranean scenery, the village features photo zones, charming cafes, and gourmet restaurants. Every year, visitors flock to the village to photograph its distinctive views and enjoy its unique atmosphere and flavor.
