Korea-Central Asia International Symposium & Next Generation
Leaders Program
The KF’s Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum Secretariat carries out
annual projects to build a network of next-generation leaders, promote
mutual interests, and strengthen cooperation between Korea and the
five Central Asian countries.
On November 25, 2020, during the public healthcare session of the 13th
Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum in Seoul, members of the Health
Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) discussed how Korea has
responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by utilizing HIRA’s ICT system and
introduced various services, such as its drug utilization review
system (DUR), provider integrated profiling system (PIPS), and
healthcare big data system (HBiG).
After last year’s forum, the Secretariat selected public healthcare as
a target for continuous monitoring and follow-up measures. On October
27, with HIRA’s cooperation, the Secretariat will operate a special
Korea-Central Asia session within the 2021 HIRA International
Symposium and International Training Course to invigorate exchange and
cooperation between Korea and Central Asia in the field of public
health.
The three-day symposium and training program will contribute to the
goal of achieving universal health coverage (UHC) for the
international community by sharing Korea’s experience and know-how
related to the safe management of patients and pharmaceutical
products. This real-time exchange of medical information and expertise
about medical insurance systems and the management of health and
medical expenditures with Central Asian countries will lead to the
improvement of healthcare systems.
