Expo 2020 Dubai: Korean Pavilion to Showcase Korean Dynamics
On October 1, Expo 2020 Dubai will open. The event aims to exhibit the
cuisine, entertainment, and cutting-edge technology of world nations,
and the Korea Pavilion is already drawing keen attention. Originally
scheduled to be held in 2020, the expo was postponed due to the
COVID-19 pandemic. It will run for six months, through March 31, 2022.
Located in the “Mobility” section of the venue, the Korean Pavilion
covers four stories and a basement — a total floor space of 4,651.41
square meters. Named “Mobile MASS-ITY” (a portmanteau of mass and
city), the pavilion renders the dynamics of Korean life through a
visual representation of the joyful dancing of masses of people. The
Korean spirit will be represented by ever-changing images and colors
displayed on a façade screen made of rotating cubes. The interior of
the semi-open building will also show off Korean dynamics with a
spiral ramp that cuts through the pavilion from the outside, providing
visitors a vantage point from which to view the whole expo.
The theme of the Korean exposition is “Smart Korea, Moving the World
to You.” It embodies the Korean people’s will to lead humanity into a
better future, and the hope that a future of infinite possibilities
will arrive and expand through the convergence of reality and virtual
reality.
Expo 2020 Dubai’s Korean Pavilion, characterized by a dynamic display
of visions for the future, is expected to represent harmony and
understanding between Korea and the United Arab Emirates through its
presentation of video images d using cutting-edge convergence
technology and its facilitation of various cultural exchange
opportunities.
