KF, ACC to Hold Cultural Events in Uzbekistan

The KF and the Asia Culture Center (ACC) will present two cultural performances in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on May 28–29. The first, Small Musician, is a theatrical presentation for families, and the second showcases the book Nar and the Snowman.
Small Musician has been produced by the ACC on the basis of the work of the Asia Storytelling Committee, which represents the five Central Asian countries—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. A modern interpretation of an old Uzbek story, it depicts an orphaned boy who spreads happiness by playing on his wind instrument.
Nar and the Snowman is a heartwarming fairytale set against the backdrop of an Uzbek winter. It was written by Kavsar Turzieva, the winner of the UNICEF Children’s Book Award, with the illustrations by Jung Jin-ho, a Korean artist who was previously honored with the Hwanggum Tokkaebisang Award. Both the writer and the illustrator will be joining the audience at this event to participate in a variety of programs including lectures, readings, and performances.
