KFVN People: Heekwang Yang, Team Leader of the World Activity Class

KFVN interviewed Yang Hee-kwang, who is leading the KF Volunteer Network’s World Activity Class this year, and learned about the always-smiling new leader’s vision and plans.

How will you lead the World Activity Class as its new leader?

At first, I thought of working to improve and upgrade the class, but then I felt that managing the class in a stable manner would be more important than that. I will do my best to better practice the spirit of our programs through which foreigners help Korean children and youths experience different cultures of the world. My priority will be on expanding participation to as many people as possible.

How did you start your activities with the KFVN?

I participated in the orientation for volunteers in the winter of 2013 and was impressed by what the World Activity Class was doing. I became a teammate of the class and I found the days I spent with the children and youth very meaningful. That is why I am still here.

The World Activity Class will begin regular programs in March. How can people join?

Korean and foreign volunteers can find notices for application at our blog or via social media. On March 2 and 9, we will have pre-event preparation meetings in Jongno, Seoul, and our first program will be conducted at an institution in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, on March 16. I will look forward to your participation.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

I would like to express heartfelt gratitude to our volunteers who devote their time and energy for the class activities while keeping a busy routine studying or working. “Big Hope, Big Dream” is the motto of our class, and my wish is for all people to be happy and realize their dreams and hopes this year.
