KF to Hold Korea Festival in ASEAN
with Performance in Indonesia
Over the years, the KF has introduced diverse features of Korea to the outside world through its Korea Festival. This year, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Korea-ASEAN dialogue relations, the KF has specially chosen ASEAN member countries as Korea Festival venues. Various arts and cultural events are planned. In October, the Korea Festival will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, and will feature the non-verbal performance Flying, a dynamic and modern combination of rhythmic and artistic gymnastics, cheerleading, martial arts, and breakdancing. Flying is the story of an ancient Korean hwarang knight and a traditional Korean dokkaebi goblin that come to the present times. The performance is hoped to bring a taste of Korean culture to the people of Indonesia and expand support for Hallyu, or the Korean Wave, thus contributing to friendship between the two countries.
