Meeting the World in Korea: An Exciting Trip to South America, Asia, and the United States

On August 17, the World Activity Class held a special ‘Meet the World in Korea’ event at the KF Global Center. The class’s publicity efforts brought in so many applicants from elementary school students that the session was filled shortly after applications were opened. The Saturday event started in the morning with the participation of over 30 children in five groups, each focused on one of five countries: Brazil, Cambodia, Peru, Tunisia, and the United States.
The program was conceived of with the utmost effort to highlight the culture and history of each nation and was conducted in a way to help the students access diverse cultures with interest. The detailed preparation that went into the program was particularly noteworthy; for instance, the children were given special learners’ passports and received stamps on them after learning about each country.
“As the special event offered lessons on five countries simultaneously, we were busier and had to work harder than we do with ordinary programs. However, we were happy and proud to see the children eagerly participate in the class activities, and the program was very satisfying,” said Jiyeon Kim, Deputy Team Leader of the World Activity Class.
After the class adjourned, the children took photos with the foreign volunteers present and received certificates of completion. The World Activity Class teammates and foreign volunteers happily wrapped up the day’s program. Though the preparation of class materials and traditional food from the five countries required a serious effort, their experience and memories served as a meaningful reward for the team’s endeavors.
