7th ROK-China Public Diplomacy Forum

The seventh Korea-China Public Diplomacy Forum will be held in Songdo, Incheon, on October 16–17, co-hosted by the two countries’ Ministries of Foreign Affairs and co-organized by the Korea Foundation and the China Public Diplomacy Association.
  During the plenary session on October 17, the forum will have three discussion meetings which will respectively deal with “Peace and Cooperation in Northeast Asia,” “Mutual Prosperity and Development,” and “Humanities Solidarity and Exchange.” Each meeting will be attended by some 30 scholars, journalists, and other leaders from various walks of life from the two countries who will have frank discussions about the ways of further developing bilateral relations in political and security, economic, and cultural exchange fields.
   On the eve of the plenary session, the Korea-China Film Festival, Open Future Dialogue of 100 Citizens from Korea and China, and Korea-China Provincial Public Diplomacy Dialogue will be held for the forum to serve as an “open field of public diplomacy” with participation by not only the official delegates but also ordinary citizens and provincial administrations.
   The Open Future Dialogue of 100 Citizens from Korea and China event will feature six internet celebrities, dubbed “wanghong,” from the two countries, including Ryu Ji-won, better known as DongDong, and Lee Hye-jin, author of the book The Wanghong and Their Power over China. During the dialogue, the participants will discuss the influence and role of social media platforms for the development of Korea-China relations and promotion of bilateral solidarity.
