Online Korean Art Workshop for Foreign Undergraduate and Graduate Students
From November 30 to December 13, the KF will hold the “2020 Online Korean Art Workshop for Undergraduate/Graduate Students” in response to the keen interest in Korean fine arts by students around the world. The workshop, part of the KF’s program to foster foreign experts well versed in Korean arts, provides an introductory course in Korean art. From 1999 to 2017, the KF hosted the annual “Workshop for Korean-Art Curators at Overseas Museums” to promote exchange of Korean and foreign experts and overseas research on Korean fine art. Since 2018, the KF has hosted the “Korean Art Workshop for Graduate Students Overseas.”
The KF’s workshop has been expanded this year to include undergraduate students with different majors, in addition to the usual group of graduate students in master’s or doctoral courses majoring in East Asian art. More than 50 students from 20 countries are expected to attend the online event. The workshop will offer lectures on the entire history of Korean art, from time-honored Buddhist art to contemporary media art. Classes on socio-cultural aspects of Korea and other such subjects will allow participants to gain a deeper understanding of Korea and Korean art.
