“TanTan Road, TanTan Recipe,” a set of five recipe videos exploring Central Asian cuisine, will be released onthe YouTube channel of the KF’s Korea–Central Asia Cooperation Forum Secretariat.

The set of "Relaxing and wordless content" videos will demonstrate how to make representative dishes from the five Central Asiancountries—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan—whose names all end with stan, asuffix meaning “land” and “country.”

Dishes to be featured are plov, a Central-Asian style pilafthat has become familiar to many Koreans throughpopular YouTubers; beshbarmak, which is similar to the Koreanhand-torn noodle soup, sujebi; kuurdak, a meatand potato dish; qurutob, a yoghurt salad; and dograma, a meatand tomato stew.

The well-shot videos show how to cook the five dishes using ingredients that are easily obtainable in Korea. Though these dishes from Central Asia’s nomadic ethnic groups may appear simple to some, their unexpectedly familiar taste is sure to please many Korean palates.

The Secretariat also plans to hold a “meal kit” event as part of the 2024 Central Asian Spring Festival, an annual event to improve the Korean citizen's interest in the cultures of five Central Asian countries for cultural exchange between Korea and the region, at Cheonggye Plaza in Seoul. Everyone would be welcomed to the upcoming event; For more information, please visit the KF Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum Secretariat social media channels.
