Udo: An Island off the Coast of Jeju Island

The name of Udo, or U Island, literally translates to “cow island” as its shape is said to resemble that of a cow lying down. Forming part of Jeju Province, U Island is famous for its beautiful scenery, and I have longed to visit it at least once. One day, when the weather turned pleasantly warm, I made a day trip to the islet.

After boarding a ferry at Seongsan Port, I arrived at U Island in just 15 minutes, then rented an electric vehicle (EV). The first thing I spotted when driving were EVs of all sorts of colors and designs. I think that watching these colorful vehicles when touring the island is one of its most spectacular charms.

At a café near Udobong, I enjoyed peanut ice cream and a peanut latte. (Peanuts are a well-known local product of U Island) Despite not being a huge fan of peanuts, their aroma was so alluring that I ate everything. Afterwards, I drove to Sanho Beach. As I gazed upon the white sands and emerald sea, it felt as if all the stress left my body. I hope that you will have the opportunity to discover another of Jeju’s many merits by touring every corner of U Island.
