18th Korean-German Forum to Be Held in Berlin

&The 18th Korean-German Forum, co-hosted by the KF and the Korean-German Society (KDG), will be held in Berlin, Germany on September 18–21.
The forum was first launched to coincide with a visit to Korea from Germany’s then-President Johannes Rau in 2002. Since this inaugural meeting, the event has worked to promote friendship and cooperation between the two countries through communication and exchange among political, economic, social, and cultural leaders.
Commemorating the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the 18th Forum will be conducted in three plenary sessions, including one on “The Current Political, Economic, and Social Status,” and four sub-sessions that deal with “The Development of Energy and Climatic Policies in the Two Countries” and other topics. There also will be a joint presentation on the theme of “The Mission for Democracy and Improvement of the Human Rights Situation: Experience of Dictatorship in Korea and Germany.”
While the Korean-German Forum proceeds, the eighth Korean-German Junior Forum will also be held. The Junior Forum, sponsored by the KF and the Public Diplomacy Center of Ewha Woman’s University, will unite 50 undergraduate and graduate-level Korean and German student participants in discussions.
