Overview
Support for the Establishment of Professorship
The Korea Foundation provides financial support for the creation of new professorships in the fields of Korean studies and Korean language education at universities in countries other than Korea that are equipped with the infrastructure necessary to maintain an adequate level of related research and education and have future growth potential. Through this program, the KF funds the establishment and maintenance of two types of professorships: (i) tenure-track positions, which recipient universities agree to permanently maintain from their own resources after the end of the KF’s initial support period, and (ii) endowed chair positions, which recipient universities agree to maintain permanently through an endowment fund jointly established with the KF.
Support for Employment of Teaching Staff
The KF provides financial support to universities abroad seeking to hire new teaching staff with the goal of creating or expanding their Korean language or Korean studies program.

(For tenure-track positions) Partial funding for the salaries and fringe benefits of newly appointed tenure-track professors who must be remunerated in accordance with recipient universities’ existing salary scales. (For endowed chair positions) Half of the funding for the creation of an endowment fund whose revenue is to be expended for the salaries and fringe benefits of professors appointed to newly established endowed chair positions. |
