When we read comments on Korean online content from those who live outside of Korea, we often smile in spite of ourselves. For instance, we cannot help but smile to see people writing “SARANG” in their efforts to express “love” in Korean because they cannot write “사랑.” The number of people who are seriously learning the Korean alphabet and language is steadily increasing. This trend is proven by the fact that the number of Korean language enthusiasts taking the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) has increased to 140 times the amount of test-takers at its inception and that Korean language classes at the KF’s Global e-School have been expanding continuously.
