‘Koreana’ Fall Issue Highlights Hangeul as Cultural Code
Under the influence of K-pop and other elements of Hallyu, the world is paying more and more attention to the Korean language and its alphabet, hangeul. As the Korean language is being studied by more students in an increasing number of countries, hangeul is emerging as a significant cultural code. The fall issue of Koreana, the KF’s comprehensive Korean arts and culture quarterly, presents a contemporary view of hangeul, d around 600 years ago to promote literacy among the general public. The issue also introduces first-generation fantasy writer, Jeon Min-hee, who is popular among Asian readers; the Seoul Museum of Art exhibition, Homin and Jaehwan, a father-son collaboration that has become the talk of the town; and Lee Jae-soon, a master artisan who renders both traditional and modern aestheticism through his works of granite.
