[The World in Korea]Petite France: Korea’s Only French-Style Theme Park

Have you ever heard of Petite France, the quaint French cultural village in Korea?

Located in Gapyeong County in Gyeonggi Province, Petite France offers various sights, including artistic French-style houses and streets, European antiques, and diverse attractions based on the popular novella, Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince). Visitors can listen to tunes from music boxes, watch European fairytales performed in puppet and marionette shows, and stroll along the village’s forest paths.

The village is well-known as a filming location used by such popular K-dramas as MBC’s Personal Taste and SBS’s My Love from the Star and Secret Garden. Visitors familiar with the shows will enjoy seeing the sights in real life and revisiting the emotions they felt while watching them on TV.

Recently, an Italy-themed village named Pinocchio & Da Vinci has opened nearby, so visitors to Petite France can easily experience Italian culture just next door. Pinocchio & Da Vinci greets visitors with Tuscan-style buildings and eye-catching attractions based on the fairytale character, Pinocchio, and the Renaissance artist, Leonardo da Vinci.
