‘Croak Croak, Click Click’—2022 ASEAN Performance Series for Children
At 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on June 25 and 26, Croak Croak, Click Click will be staged to conclude the ASEAN Performance Series for Children at the ASEAN Culture House.
Based on the Vietnamese folktale “Why Does Rain Fall when the Toad Grinds its Teeth?” the play focuses on the importance of nature and water that suffer from plastic waste.
After seeing the plight of his animal friends due to a long drought, the toad Gurgur learns that Mr. Whale knows the secret to making it rain. To find Mr. Whale, Gurgur begins an adventurous trip to the sea and arrives there only to see a mountain of waste. Can the toad find Mr. Whale and make him bring rain?
This work was produced by the Asia Culture Center Foundation and the theatrical group Bookmark, which aims to get close to the audience by pursuing the “physical theater” style of storytelling based on miming and dance. Bookmark’s other major presentations are Masterpiece, a trick art painting performance, and the non-verbal comedy Vaga and Bond.
