A rising number of people in Korea seem to want to fulfill a bucket list and challenge themselves to achieve long-held dreams. Those in their 20s and 30s are especially keen on finding fun and a sense of achievement in an efficient way, thus one-day classes have recently grown popular.

Such classes entail learning about something in a day in subjects ranging from cooking, crafts, and physical exercise to photography, drawing, and making snack for pets. The classes are especially popular among people whose wishes for leisure are compromised due to their busy work schedules as well as budget-conscious college students. The biggest advantage of one-day classes is their availability after work, with just a few hours needed on a weekday. Other advantages are experiencing something new and creating things in a short time, thus leading to a sense of self-improvement and achievement. Those pursuing their hobbies in such classes also pay reasonable fees ranging from KRW 10,000 (USD 7.64) to KRW 100,000 (USD 76.40).

Amid the lingering COVID-19 pandemic, the popularity of non-conventional teaching and learning through one-on-one, small group, and contactless virtual classes has grown fast along with the one-day classes. This fad is likely to continue given the trend of pursuing a healthier work-life balance and individual desires and the power of social networking services.
