2022 Korean Language and Culture Program for Diplomats

On September 19, the KF began this year’s Korean Language and Culture Program for Diplomats for 25 diplomats from 25 countries. The invitational program, which was launched in 2005, has been held thus far for 513 diplomats.

This year’s program is participated in by diplomats from countries including Bhutan, Gabon, Romania, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and the Dominican Republic. They will take a 12-week course in Korean language and Korean studies at Kyung Hee University (Seoul) to broaden their understanding of their host country. Participants will also attend classes on Korean diplomacy and Northeast Asian politics for one week at the Korea National Diplomatic Academy and experience Korean culture firsthand by visiting historical sites in Seoul and Jeju Island.

The KF hopes that participants can, through the program, gain a balanced and accurate understanding of Korea while working at their embassies in Seoul and/or engaging in diplomatic activity related to Korea.
