Academy Museum Launches Korean Women Directors’ Film Series

From June 8 to 29, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles will present a series of films directed by Korean women directors with the support of the KF. In October last year, the museum screened a series of Korean horror films with the KF's support.

Under the title of “A New Wave of K-Cinema: Korean Women Directors,” the museum plans to show films that are expanding the scope of Korean cinema. It will introduce directors such as Yim Soon-rye, Byun Young-joo, and Park Chan-ok, whose works are deemed significant in the history of Korean cinema, as well as the works of emerging directors Jung July and Kim Cho-hee. One will also be able to see works by Kim Do-young and Boo Ji-young, both of whom have aroused keen interest by dealing with the lives of Korean women from varied perspectives, as female narratives become more prominent than ever.

The museum will also host dialogues with Director Yim of Waikiki Brothers and Little Forest, and with Director Jeong July of Next Sohee.
