Yun Hyong-Keun Exhibition at Hastings Contemporary
From June 10 through October 1, the Hastings Contemporary, a modern and contemporary art gallery in the United Kingdom, will host an exhibition of paintings by the late Yun Hyong-Keun with the KF's support. This marks the first time that a public gallery in the UK will hold an exhibition of Yun's works.
The exhibition will present a series of a dozen works exploring Yun's artistic world that he referred to as the “gate of heaven and earth”; each painting mirrors Korea’s tremendous societal changes as experienced by the painter himself. Additionally, they show how Yun differentiated his creative practice from the abstract paintings of major 20th-century artists in Europe and the United States.
On August 17, the ”Korea Day Late: Film and Food” event will be held alongside the exhibition to celebrate Korea Day and bring Korean art and culture closer to art lovers in Hastings. Director Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite will be screened and Korean snacks and drinks will be served.
