The 31st Japan-Korea Forum

From August 30 to September 1, the 31st Japan-Korea Forum, jointly organized by the KF and the Japan Center for International Exchange, will be held in Seoul. Founded in 1993 in the wake of the bilateral summit in Gyeongju, Korea, the forum’s inaugural meeting was held in Seoul in December of the same year. Since then, it has been held annually, with the venue alternating between the two countries.

Reflecting the resumption of shuttle diplomacy and other signs of the bilateral relationship returning to normalcy, this year’s forum will bring together over 50 key political figures, journalists, and academics to discuss major bilateral issues and methods for future-oriented cooperation.

Topics on the agenda include domestic political situations in the two countries, the international political climate and Korea-Japan relations, economic security and prospects for bilateral cooperation, and suggestions for further normalization of Tokyo-Seoul ties and exchange between citizens.

Alongside the forum, the 9th Japan-Korea Junior Forum will open under the theme of “The Future We Draw” to foster the bilateral friendship hoped for by the younger generations of both countries.
