Global Hallyu Fans Surpass 225 Million

In 2024, the KF marks the 12th year of its Global Hallyu Status yearbook. The survey has been published annually since 2012 by gathering related materials from Korean diplomatic missions around the world.

The number of global hallyu fans surpassed 225 million as of December 2023. This recent figure reveals that hallyu fans worldwide have increased an outstanding 24 times from the 9.26 million that were counted in the first survey in 2012.

2023 Global Hallyu Status covers 119 countries around the globe, sharing information and statistics collected from 172 Korean diplomatic missions across four continents. The survey reveals that hallyu is quickly becoming a leader in global popular culture. Asia and Oceania remained the foundation of the Korean wave, with approximately 150 million hallyu fans. Meanwhile, the Americas saw hallyu fans increase by 20 million from the previous year, and the number of hallyu fans in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East continued to grow steadily.
