Koreana  Spring 2024 Issue: Contemporary Euljiro

Over the past few years, Seoul has emerged as one of the world’s hottest cities. It is touted as the next Asian art capital and is already a heated competition ground for global fashion brands. The spring issue of Koreana, the KF’s comprehensive arts and culture quarterly, thus highlights four major locations in Seoul where visitors can enjoy the city’s many charms all year round.

This begins with the story of Euljiro, Seoul’s representative industrial neighborhood. The magazine documents Euljiro’s transformation from a modern-era industrial town to the “Hip-jiro” of today. Hoping to aid readers’ understanding of the neighborhood, it introduces AGO, a lighting brand that combines the technical skills of Euljiro’s engineers and craftsmen with elegant design, as well as the digital font “Euljiro,” developed by Korean food delivery platform Baedal Minjok and inspired by lettering often seen on the neighborhood’s old signboards.

Other articles introduce B-boy Hong 10, who won a silver medal at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou last year; architect Choi Wook, whose designs embody his Eastern perspective; and Psick University, a YouTube channel leading a Korean comedy revival with its contemporary content.
