Korean Culture Class Leader Oh Joo-young Honored

On New Year’s Day, members of the KFVN were greeted with the wonderful news that Oh Joo-young, an 11-year veteran of the Korean Culture Class (KCC), was to be honored with a plaque of appreciation for her tireless efforts within the volunteer network.
Since 2006, the KCC has consistently offered first-rate programs providing foreign participants with interactive and intimate experiences, promoting Korean tradition and local culture in equal measure. Seamlessly coordinating her team of Korean and international staff, Ms. Oh has successfully run eight programs every year. Thanks to her efforts, the KCC has consistently earned plaudits for its tremendous contributions to spreading awareness of Korean culture within the expat community, with the class chosen as an outstanding program by the Korean Culture and Information Service at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2015, even featuring on Arirang Radio’s #dailyK program just last year.
“I am happy for the KFVN,” said Ms. Oh. “I owe the plaque to my teammates who have firmly devoted themselves to the cause like stout trees, and to everybody at the KFVN. I would also like to express my appreciation to those at the KF who supported me and cheered me on.”
