Korea-China Future Forum
The KF and the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs will jointly hold the 23rd Korea-China Forum for the Future in Weihai, China, on September 4–7.
The forum has been held annually since the first meeting in Beijing in 1994, alternating between the two countries, after the two sides agreed in 1993 on forming a permanent dialogue channel for leaders from the government and private sectors.
This year’s forum is set against the backdrop of rapid changes in the security order in and around Northeast Asia, largely stemming from the push for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. It is expected that heated discussion will arise among the scholars, politicians, and prominent government figures in attendance who will delve into various themes such as the expansion of bilateral cooperation for peace and security in the region, regional economic development and Korea-China cooperation, and new approaches to the peace and security of the Korean Peninsula.
