Publication of ‘Koreana’ Autumn Issue

Special Feature: Prelude to Peace, Inter-Korean Détente in Popular Culture
The autumn issue of Koreana, the comprehensive Korean culture and arts magazine, has been published. Considering the changing atmosphere on the Korean Peninsula after the April 27 inter-Korean summit and Panmunjom Declaration, the quarterly’s special features trace how the North and South have communicated with each other by way of cinema, music, sports, literature, tourism, and other forms of popular culture. In addition, the magazine delivers the autumnal fragrance of culture and arts through an introduction of artist Lee Me-kyeoung, who has recorded the disappearing mom-and-pop stores in Korean alleys in her pen drawings, and by highlighting Seongbuk-dong, the Seoul neighborhood where many writers and painters once lived as neighbors.
