A Special Way of Beating the Heat at KF Global Center

On July 21, as sizzling temperatures gripped the nation, a group of children not only escaped from the heat at the KF Global Center but also enjoyed rare access to the cultures of Romania and Turkey in the World Activity Class. The children’s parents joined the class too, adding a friendly family atmosphere to the proceedings.
Laura from Romania greeted the guests in traditional costume accented with a beautiful headwear. She introduced the origin of Dracula, the legendary vampire often seen as synonymous with her homeland, and explained the Romanian practice of decorating their tombstones with various colorful paintings.
Ezgi from Turkey opened her class by talking about the traditional Turkish sport of oil wrestling. She fascinated the audience with her deions of Turkish ice cream, served with entertaining performances and tricks from the vendors, and the traditional dance that resembles the movement of anchovies.
After learning about the two countries, the participants played a “Golden Bell” quiz with great enthusiasm and practiced simple expressions in Romanian and Turkish. They also ate mamaliga, a type of Romanian porridge, and Turkish kebab. The class enabled the participants to forget about the scorching weather through the magic of cultural exchange.
