On September 20, the Korea Foundation hosted a welcoming ceremony for the participants of the 2022 KF Korean Language and Culture Program for Diplomats, which was attended by foreign diplomats stationed in Korea. This year’s program runs for 12 weeks and is joined by 25 diplomats from 25 countries from all around the world, including Africa, Central and South America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

Besides attending an intensive Korean language course at Kyung Hee University’s Institute of International Education, the diplomats will experience a number of cultural activities such as taekwondo and learning K-pop dance. They will also visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss regional issues and network with their Korean counterparts. Another visit took them to the Korea National Diplomatic Academy to attend lectures on the political situation on the Korean peninsula and in Northeast Asia, helping them to gain an in-depth understanding of Korean affairs and allowing them to discuss them with Korean experts. In addition, they will visit Gyeongbok Palace, the National Museum of Korea, and the DMZ to learn more about Korean culture and history. In cooperation with the Jeju Provincial Government, they also visited Jeju Island to explore the island’s nature and history.
