  한국국제교류재단(KF)은 2025년 9월 30일부터 2026년 2월 27일까지 KF XR 갤 러리 기획전 «플랫폼: 보다 인간적인(Platform: Still Human) »을 개최한다. 디지털 신기술과 인공지능 등이 인간의 감각과 사고, 관계 방식마저 재구성하는 오늘날에도 인간은 분명 여전히 인간으로 불린다. 그러나 그 '인간다움'이란 어떻게 정의되며, 그 것이 디지털 환경 속에서 어떻게 인지되고 지속되는가에 대한 질문과 관점은 하루가 다르게 새로이 논의되고 있다. 디지털 딜레마, AI 리스크 등 전세계적인 문제 의식들 이 제기되는 가운데, 기술은 종종 인간성의 약화 혹은 소외의 기제로 규정되기도 한 다. 그러나 역설적으로 기술이 때로는 인간의 가장 깊은 내면을 비추고, 감정의 결을 포착하며 인간 존재 조건을 사유하게 하는 거울처럼 작동하기도 한다. 본 전시는 이 같은 디지털 문명이 드리운 양가적 풍경에서 출발하여, 다국적 협업과 예술적 실천을 통해 동시대 인간을 성찰하고, 이를 바탕으로 존엄·공존·연대의 가치를 심화하는 미래 담론을 제안하고자 기획되었다.

  '플랫폼'이라는 전시 제목은 서로 다른 경험과 언어, 문화적 맥락들이 연결되고, 감각적으로 소통하는 온오프라인의 장(場)을 의미한다. 그것은 곧 KF XR 갤러리가 디지털 신기술을 매개로 상호 이해와 연대를 촉진하는 디지털 공공외교의 실험장으 로 기획되었음을 반영한다. 영문 전시 제목의 "still"은 빠른 변화 속에서도 '여전히 인 간'이어야 한다는 인간 존엄의 지속을 강조하는 동시에, '멈춤' 혹은 '고요함'이라는 의 미로 동시대 인간을 깊이 사유하는 시선을 담고 있다. '보다 인간적인'이라는 국문 제 목 또한 인간을 '바라보다'라는 의미와, '한층 더 인간적인'이라는 인류 보편적 가치를 심화하는 이중의 메시지를 갖는다.

  전시를 위해 국내외 여러 기관이 협력한다. 주한체코문화원은 정신 건강이라는 글로벌 공공 담론에 의미 있는 성찰을 더하는 VR 영화로 함께한다. 국제 XR 영화제 에서 주목받으며 여러 차례 수상한 이 작품은, 흔들리는 내면의 감정을 가상현실이라 는 매개 속에서 깊이 실감하게끔 한다. 그 과정에서 관객은 타인의 경험과 감정을 교 감하며 공감하는, 특별한 교류의 순간을 경험한다.

  폴란드의 아담 미츠키에비츠 문화원(Adam Mickiewicz Institute; IAM)은 세계적인 영화감독들을 배출한 폴란드 국립 우치영화학교(National Film School in tódz) vnLab의 디렉터와 아티스트들이 제작한 VR 작품 세 편을 선보인다. 인간 존재의 보편적 조건과 내면에 대한 성찰을 주제로 한 작품들은 시청각적 감각을 극대 화하며, 삶과 죽음 등 인간에 관한 본질적 질문들을 몰입적으로 탐구한다.

  한국예술종합학교는 후니다 킴의 햅틱 사운드 인터페이스 수업에서 비롯된 작 품들을 선보인다. 그의 지도 하에 작가들은 현대 디지털 기술이 인간의 감각 체계와 인지 방식에 미치는 영향을 고찰하며, 이를 사운드 기반 작품과 VR 작품으로 구현했 다. 이러한 작품들은 신체와 기술 사이의 경계를 흐리며 미래 감각적 소통 방식에 관 한 새로운 통찰을 제시한다.

  KAIST 경험디자인연구실(Experience Design Lab; XD Lab)과 연구실을 이끄는 강이연은 글로벌 담론인 인류세, 기후변화 등을 주제로 한 과학-예술 융합형 작품 4점을 선보인다. 기술을 통해 새로운 관계 맺기의 감각을 실험하고 공존의 다음 장을 상상해보는 사유의 장이 펼쳐진다.

  이들 작품은 기술을 통해 인간이 스스로를 깊이 성찰하고, 타인과의 공감을 확 장하며, 미래 지구를 위한 보편적 가치를 지향하고 감각한다는 점에서 교차한다. 여기 에서 기술은 단순한 혁신의 도구가 아니라 더 나은 세계를 모색하는 수단으로 제시되 며, 예술은 그와 결합해 인간의 조건을 해체하고 재구성함으로써 '보다 인간적인 것' 이 무엇인지를 다시 묻는 역할로 함께 한다.

  전시는 기술과 인간 사이의 간극이 아니라, 그 만남에서 열리는 사유와 상호 이 해의 공간을 탐색해 볼 것이다. 더불어 배포와 참여를 핵심으로 하는 디지털 신기술 기반 예술을, 한국 공공외교의 현대적 언어로 실현하는 구체적 사례를 남기고자 한다. KF XR 갤러리라는 플랫폼 위에 각국의 창의성과 연대의 감각이 어루어지는 교류의 장이 펼쳐지기를 기대해 본다.

  The Korea Foundation (KF) is pleased to present the KF XR Gallery Spe- cial Exhibition Platform: Still Human from September 30, 2025, to Feb- ruary 27, 2026. Even as digital technologies and artificial intelligence (Al) reshape human senses, thought, and ways of relating in the mod- ern day, people are still unmistakably called “human.” And yet, ques- tions and perspectives on how this "humanity" is defined-and how it is perceived and sustained within digital environments-are being continuously reexamined. Amid global concerns regarding the digital dilemma and Al risks, technology is often framed as a force that weak- ens or alienates humanity. Paradoxically, however, technology at times also functions as a mirror, reflecting our innermost depths, capturing subtle textures of emotion, and prompting reflection on the conditions of human existence. Starting from this ambivalent landscape shaped by digital civilization, this exhibition reflects on contemporary humanity through multinational collaboration and aristic practice, proposing, on this basis, future discourse that deepens the values of dignity, coexis- tence, and solidarity.

  "Platform" as used in the exhibition title signifies a space, both online and offline, where diverse experiences, languages, and cultural contexts connect and engage through the senses. It reflects the KF XR Gallery's conception as an experimental ground for digital public diplo- macy, fostering mutual understanding and solidarity through new digital technologies. Meanwhile, the word “still” in the English title emphasiz- es the persistence of human dignity-the notion that we must remain human even amidst rapid change-while also evoking the meaning of a pause, a stillness, a contemplative gaze that invites deeper reflection on contemporary humanity. The Korean title, Boda Inganjeogin (literally “more humane"), likewise carries a dual message: it suggests both the act of gazing upon humanity and an aspiration to deepen the universal humanistic value of becoming more humane.

  Multiple domestic and international institutions have collaborated on this exhibition. The Czech Center Seoul contributes a virtual reali- ty (VR) film that offers meaningful reflections on the global public dis- course surrounding mental health. Recognized at international XR film festivals and a recipient of multiple awards, the work immerses viewers in the experience of unsettled inner emotions through the medium of virtual reality. In this process, the audience encounters a special mo- ment of exchange, empathizing with and connecting to the experiences and emotions of others.

  The Adam Mickiewicz Institute (IAM) in Poland presents three VR works created by artists and the directors of vnLab at the Łódź Film School, a national institution that has produced world-renowned film- makers. These works, which contemplate the universal conditions and inner depths of human existence, maximize audiovisual experiences and offer an immersive exploration of humanity's fundamental questions, such as those regarding life and death.

  The Korea National University of Arts presents works emerging from Hoonida Kim's haptic sound interface class. Under his direction, participating artists investigate the ways in which contemporary digital technologies influence human sensory systems and modes of cogni- tion, giving form to their inquiries through sound-based and VR works. These creations blur the boundaries between body and technology, of- fering fresh insights into future forms of sensory communication.

  KAIST Experience Design Lab (XD Lab), led by Dr. Yiyun Kang, presents four science-art fusion works addressing global discourse surrounding the Anthropocene and climate change. Their pieces open a reflective space that experiments with new modes of connection through technology and imagines the next chapter of coexistence. Together, these works converge to demonstrate how technology enables humans to reflect more deeply on themselves, expand empathy toward others, and pursue and perceive universal values for the future of the Earth. Here, technology is presented not merely as a tool of inno- vation but as a means of seeking a better world, while art, in combina- tion with it, deconstructs and reconfigures the human condition, togeth- er asking anew what it means to be "still human."

  This exhibition explores not the divide between technology and humanity but the space for reflection and mutual understanding that emerges from their encounters. Simultaneously, it seeks to present con- crete examples of how art grounded in new digital technologies and centered on distribution and participation can serve as a contempo- rary language of Korea's public diplomacy. We look forward to the KF XR Gallery platform unfolding as a meeting ground where creativity and solidarity from around the world converge.
