СНГ “Ван сан 주한자흐스대사관 에헤헤 뿌려라 씨를 활활 뿌려라 땅의 젖을 짜 먹고 와싹와싹 자란다 한국국제교류재단과 주한 카자흐스탄대사관은 한국과 카자흐스탄의 수교 30주년을 기념하여 6월 30일부터 8월 6일까지 전시 《와싹와싹 자라게》를 개최한다. 전시명인 “와싹와싹 자라게”는 고려인 1세대 극작가 연성용이 1933년에 작사·작곡한 노동요 <씨를 활활 뿌려라>의 후렴구 가사로, 바람에 와사삭, 와 스치는 농경지의 빼곡한 벼 잎들을 상상하게 한다. 또한 이 가사는 러시아에서 중앙아시아에 이르기까지 척박한 땅을 일궈 생명의 싹을 틔워 온 고려인들의 삶을 함축하기도 한다. 1800년대 후반에 고려인들은 기근과 자연재해를 피해 하나, 둘 연해주 근방에 터를 잡기 시작했고, 이후 일제강점기가 도래하자 조국을 되찾기 위한 독립운동을 이끌기도 했다. 이후 1937년, 러시아는 고려인 17만여 명을 중앙아시아로 강제이주를 명령하였다. 고려인들은 기찻길을 따라 떠밀려 간 중앙아시아의 생경한 땅에서 새로운 삶을 개척해야 했다. 강제이주의 과정에서 수많은 사람들이 목숨을 잃고 터전을 빼앗겼지만 그들은 비극에 굴하지 않고 다시 땅을 딛고 일어섰다. 고려인들은 중앙아시아의 환경에 적응하며 씨를 활활 뿌리고, 와싹와싹 자라는 벼들을 키우고, 땅의 젖을 짜 먹으며 치열하게 삶을 꾸려나가며, 마침내 현지에 맞게 정착하였으나, 여전히 고국에 대한 열망을 간직하며 살았다. 모국어로 된 극을 올렸던 <고려극장이나, 당시 유일하게 발간되어 현재까지 명맥을 이어오는 한글 전국신문 『고려일보』를 살펴보면, 그들이 고려인으로서의 정체성을 지키려 부단히 노력했음을 엿볼 수 있다. 만 리가 넘는 타국에서도 고려인들이 민족적 정체성을 지키고자 부단히 노력했던 것은 그것이 고향으로 돌아가는 길을 되짚는 유일한 방법이었기 때문이 아니었을까. 올해는 고려인 중앙아시아 정주 85주년이다. 주한 카자흐스탄대사관과 공동 협력하에 이루어지는 이번 전시를 통해 한국과 카자흐스탄 양국의 가교와 희망으로서 역할을 해온 현지 고려인들이 지나온 여정을 돌아 보면서, 외교관계 수립 30돌을 맞이한 한국과 카자흐스탄 양국의 미래 지향적 협력과 우정의 뜻을 더욱 공고히 하는 계기가 되기를 소망한다. Sow the Seeds, Sprinkle the Seeds Let Them Spring Up from Mother Earth From June 30 to August 6, the Korea Foundation and the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Seoul are holding the exhibition Land of Hope to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the Republic of Korea and Kazakhstan. The title of the exhibition is taken from the chorus of the workers' song "Sow the Seeds", written and composed in 1933 by YEON Seong-yong, a firstgeneration Koryo-saram playwright. The lyrics evoke the image of rice ears undulating with the wind and symbolize the life of the Koryo-saram, who cultivated the barren lands of Russia and Central Asia. Koryo-saram is the term which members of the Korean diaspora in Russia and Central Asia use to refer to themselves. In the 19th century, Koreans began settling in Siberia's Maritime Territory to escape famine and natural disasters. After Japan colonized Korea in 1910, the Korean communities in Russia played a crucial role in the Korean independence movement. In 1937, the Soviet Union ordered the forced emigration of over 170,000 Koreans to Central Asia. Thousands of them lost their lives and homes in the course of this forced displacement. Those who survived the arduous train journey of around 4,000 miles to Central Asia had to pioneer new lives in an unfamiliar land. However, they did not give in to tragedy and rose again from the ground. Adapting to the harsh environment of Central Asia, the Koryo-saram prevailed by cultivating the soil, sowing seeds, and growing rice. They eventually grew accustomed to their new homes but continued to long for their native land.
