KF창립 30주년 기념 특별전이음한국국제교류재단(Korea Foundation)은 창립 30주년 기념 특별전《이음 Creating Connections》을 2021.9.30.-11.9.까지 KF 절러리와 VR 전시를 통해서 개최한다. KF는 1991년 창립 이래 30년 동안 대한민국 대표 공공외교기관으로서 외국과의 교류 사업을 통해 한국에 대한 국제적 관심의 폭을 넓히고 우호친선을 증진하여 한국과 세계가 서로 깊이 이해하는 친구가 될 수 있도록 노력해 왔다. 이번 전시는 한국과 세계의 가교’로서 사람과 사람을 이어온 KF2| 지난 30년을 돌아보고, 나아가 새롭고 다양한 ‘이음’을 창조해 더 나은 미래를 만드는데 기여하고자 하는 KF의 비전을 시지각적으로 구현하고자 기획되었다.특히 팬데믹 이후 ‘Connection’은 전 세계 모든 이들이 그 무엇보다 갈망하고 지향하는 개념으로 자리매김하고 있다. KF는 이러한 시대적 어려움 속에서도 끊임없이 새로운 방향성을 모색하며 “사람을 잇고 세계를 연결한다 Connecting People, Bridging the World” 라는 슬로건을 한층 더 적극적으로 확장하고 실천하고자 노력하고 있으며，이 전시를 통해 그 확고한 의지를 보여주고자 한다.전시는 20세기의 끄트머리부터 21 세기 현재에 이르기까지 30년이라는 한 세대(Generation)의 변화를 겪으며 KF가 지나온 발자취를 아카이브를 통해 재해석하고, KF의 비전을 현실과 가상공간을 넘나드는 현대 예술 작품들로 제시한다. 관람객들은 연대기적 흐름을 큰 축으로 KF의 발자취를 추적하는 과정을 통해, 1990년을 전후로 등장한 ‘국제하-세계화’라는 화두 속에서 시대적 요구에 맞춰 공공외교의 영역을 개척하고 도전을 거듭해온 KF의 고군분투 과정을 목격하게 된다. 동시에 지난 한 세대 동안 크게 변화한 한국의 위상과 국제 흐름에 관한 시야를 넓히는 기회를 접할 수 있을 것이다. 한국 아티스트 아워레이보(팀)，전소정, 정지현， 진달래&박우혁(팀)(가나다순)이 전시에 협력해 그래픽，설치，영상，디지털， 3D 프린팅과 메타버스를 활용한 현대 미술 작업들을 함께 선보인 것 또한의미 깊다. 작가들의 작업은 사람과 사람，국가와 세계, 과거와 현재, 현실과 가상 등 다양한 관계와 연결의 의미를 다층적이고 공감각적으로 체험할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다. 이를 통해 전시를 접하는 분들이 교류와 소통에 다양한 관점과 방향성이 존재할 수 있다는 것을 한층 더 넓은 시야에서 바라보는 계기가 되었으면 한다.아이러니하게도 전 세계 사람들을 고립시키고 거리 두게 한 팬데믹의 한 가운데에서 창립 30주년을 맞이하게 되었다. "는 이러한 환경적 제약에 굴하지 않고 범세계적 연결고리(Global Connections)를 창조하기 위한 새로운 도전을 계속해 나가고자 한다. VR, 메타버스 등 기술 혁신에 기반한 만남의 장을 온오프라인으로 펼쳐 보이는 이번 전시는 그 도전의 일환이라고 할 수 있다. 지난 30년간 우리 국민과 함께 세계와 소통하며 더 나은 미래를 만들기 위해 끊임없이 창조적 ‘이음’을 추구해 온 KF의 열정과 믿음이, 이번 전시를 통해 우리 국민과 재외국민 나아가 세계인들과 공유될 수 있기를 희망한다.

KF 30TH ANNIVERSARYSPECIAL COMMEMORATIVE EXHIBITION:CREATING CONNECTIONSFrom September 30 to November 9, 2021, the Korea Foundation (KF) presents Creating Connections, a special exhibition celebrating the KF’s 30th anniversary. The exhibition will be held at the KF Gallery and as an online VR exhibition. In the 30 years since its establishment in 1991, the KF has expanded global interest in Korea, promoted international amity through foreign exchange projects, and built in-depth friendships between Korea and the world as the Republic of Korea's designated public diplomacy institution. This exhibition looks back on the past 30 years of the KF’s role as a bridge connecting Koreans to people around the world, and visualizes the Foundation's goals to create new and diverse forms of connections and contribute to a better world.The theme of “connection,” especially since the outbreak ofthe pandemic, has become a subject of yearning and pursuitfor people everywhere. Despite the difficulties presented by the current times, the KF is constantly exploring new ways to follow its motto, ''Connecting People, Bridging the World.” It actively expands the meaning of this motto with a firm determination that it intends to present and manifest through this exhibition.Creating Connections uses archival materials to reinterpretthe footprints left by the KF through the changes of the past 30 years—from the end of the 20th century until now—and proposes a vision for the KF’s future through contemporary artworks that traverse the boundaries between reality and virtual reality. In the process of chronologically tracing the KF’s footsteps, visitors can learn about the struggles faced by the Foundation as it pioneered the field of public diplomacy while battling the demands ofthe times, repeatedly challenging itself as the concepts of globalization and internationalization emerged around 1990. Visitors are also able to broaden their perspectives of international trends and Korea's significantly changed status over the past decades. The collaborative presentation of contemporary artworks integrates graphics, installation, video, digital and 3D printing, and the metaverse by Korean artists OUR LABOUR, Jun Sojung, Jung Jihyun, and Jin Dallae & Park Woohyuk. Their works offer a synesthetic experience and multi-layered meanings of the various relationships and connections between humans, between a nation and the world, between the past and the present, and between reality and virtual reality. Visitors can thus learn about diverse means of and perspectives on exchange and communication.Ironically, the KF celebrates the 30th anniversary of its pursuit to connect people as a pandemic continues that has distanced and isolated people around the globe. Undefeated by the environmental limitations, the Foundation will continue to take on new challenges and forge global connections. This exhibition, gathering people both online and offline using innovative technology such as VR and the metaverse, can be seen as one such challenge. The KF hopes that through this exhibition, the past 30 years of its communication with people in Korea and overseas, and its passion for and faith in creative connections as a way to improve the future, will be shared not only with Koreans but also with people all around the world.
