[Fellowship] The Korea Foundation-KoSASA Establish the KF ASEAN Fellowship for Graduate Studies.
The Korea Foundation and the Korean Studies Association of Southeast Asia (KoSASA) agreed to cooperate on the establishment of the KF ASEAN Fellowship for Graduate Studies.
The KoSASA was founded in 2005 by leading universities in Southeast Asia in order to foster Korean Studies in Southeast Asia. The Association has been assiduously working to achieve its main objective of becoming a Southeast Asian region-wide association of scholars and educators of academic disciplines that are related to Korea.
The Korea Foundation and the KoSASA will cooperate to provide support for outstanding young scholars in ASEAN countries through the KF ASEAN Fellowship for Graduate Studies; there will be opportunities to study in their home country or in Korea for a master’s or doctorate degree in Korean Studies. Furthermore, those eligible for the Fellowship include faculty members of ASEAN universities, as well as outstanding graduate students who are committed to be faculty members of Korean Studies at ASEAN universities after completion of their study.
Annually, there will be nine KF ASEAN Fellows for Korean Studies; these Fellows will have been recommended by the nine universities in seven countries of the ASEAN region. Some of the Fellows, who are to be studying at Korean universities, will start their studies this September.
