The publication of Korean Culture Series

To promote awareness and understanding of Korea, the Korea Foundation publishes Korea-related periodicals and a variety of monographs in the fields of Korean culture, arts, and history in English. Thus far, the Foundation has published mainly academic-oriented books to enhance Korean studies abroad. However, the Foundation is now focusing on the publication of Korean cultural themes that can appeal to general readers at home and abroad with an interest in Korea as well as academically insightful books for scholars and students in Korea-related fields at foreign universities. In this regard, the Foundation has been implementing a project, featuring traditional and contemporary Korean arts and cultural themes since 2002. The first outcome of this project, , authored by Professor Kim Youngna (Seoul National Univ.), was published in June 2005, while the second publication, , written by Professor Lee Sanghae (Sungkyunkwan Univ.), was published in August 2005. In addition, , , , and will be published in the first half of 2006, and then , , and in the second half of the year. The Foundation intends to publish further volumes that feature a diversity of themes and subject areas. As such, the will play an instrumental role in disseminating information about Korea as well as its people and culture to readers around the world.
